![]() Breakthrough in Film Industry ANR's journey through films has been incredible and conventional. He arrived in Madras (now Chennai) on the 8th May, 1944 into the punch of cultural shock. It was not disappointing but a revelation for him. This invariably provided ANR with a right path at every step. Telugu cinema started in 1931 with the release of its first Talkie film 'Bhakta Prahlada'. ANR first film was released in 1941. He has been extensively encouraged and elevated in developing the world of cinema. As the time went on, he was offered roles that reflected the fashion of those times. Every success vindicated his confidence and every challenge motivated him with courage and determination to give satisfaction to the audience and box office success. He has had the privilege of partnering the Telugu film industry since its inception. He as a veteran actor, gave a five-point plan to state government about how to improve the Telugu Cinema industry in AP in 1963. Since there were no studios in AP at that time, ANR had invested his hard-earned money to build Annapurna studios. After seeing the deterioration in film production in AP, he incorporated an award for the best film to encourage filmmakers. Although having passed the age of 87, Dr. Akkineni is still acting. He is treasured in Andhra Pradesh for portraying roles that provide wholesome entertainment. News & Events
